I had a 6 pt lay under my stand the first wk of MZ, but passed since I'd seen 2 big bucks before season. Since then I've seen a 3 pt twice. Don't know where 2 big bucks went. Yesterday I got home from working nightshift, it was cold and snowing. I couldn't resist. Snuck back into the woods and sat down @ 10:45, saw 2 does in five min, 15 min later had a doe behind me and the 6 pt coming across field in front of me. First buck I've seen in 2 wks and no venison in freezer, so I took him. I was exhausted after working 14 hours but sometimes you just know, today is the day and you better get out there.

I would have taken the does if I really wanted meat.Then shot the 6 when he came by if I wanted more.

Good deal and thats what hunting is about... Some of these guys get to hung up on horns or age of bucks... There have been many years in the 29 that I have deer hunted when I wish something with horns would walk by...

I would have shot a doe if I needed meat, but I understand you couldn't because of the regulation. Unit L is a great thing, and I don't even shoot does. Why are yall buck only? Is deer population low in your area?

Hey... its a legal deer and I can't tell the difference between buck meat or doe meat.. Its all good... I haven't cooked the antlers yet..

Some folks hunt for reasons other than food. But since he wasn't allowed to shoot a doe, I understand him shooting the buck if his family needed the food. I am just curious as to why doe harvest isn't allowed in his area.

There's plenty of deer in putnam county. I would guess as many as is in jackson county in fact.

There's lots of deer here and Unit L is gradually spreading this way. I'd say next 3 yrs we could move to Unit L, but not with 3/day doe limit. Either sex in archery and MZ only.

If you move yo Unit L, it'll be 3 does a day. Counties don't pick and choose their own regulations.
