This increasingly becoming a problem for me. I have always used a waste-pouch and carried a climber. But I find it a hassle, especially after muzzleloader comes in and I am having to switch out gear as I alternate between mzl and bow. Not enouch room for both gear in the waste pouch. If not using a climber most of the time, I would carry a full sized backpack.
The single piece of gear that causes me the most trouble is the range finder. Keeping it easily accessible, but out of the way of the bow can be a challenge. I prerange distances in the stand, but still like to confirm on occasion. I think I may start wearing a drop pouch for things like the rangefinder and calls. Never seen that done with hunting, but thing it would be a good solution to some of my in the stand gear bomb issues.

The answer to your rangefinder problem is the pro series of the Hunter Safety System. It has some pockets in the vest that make the rangefinder very accessible but out of the way of bowstrings. For the first time ever I kept my rangefinder out of my pack and accessible. There are plenty of pockets for calls, etc. I made the switch from the seat-of-the-pants system that I had used (and loved) for 10+ years to the Pro HSS and couldn't be more pleased. The vest with pockets is very well designed and great for the bowhunter. It is now a piece of equipment that would be immediately replaced if it was somehow lost.
Redhead has a large fanny pack with shoulder straps. It also accomodates some of the buddy lock pouches for extra storage. I use it if I'm carrying a climber in. Otherwise I carry a Fieldline backpack.

Gun/bow on my back and a little carry pouch slung over my shoulder carrying the essentials. I use mainly loc-ons and ladder stands anymore, so they're already there, providing the local thieves haven't taken them.

I have a camo turkey vest I use in archery season. Enough pockets for everything. I have a orange vest made out of the same material and has a huge back pocket and small front pockets. The only problem is I had it made. Don't even know if the guy is still around, can't find him. If someone had the means to make these things they could stay busy year round I think.

I use 2,one for bow, very little in it,one ,a little bigger for gun season,it has a few outer pockets, one of which is dedicated for MZL stuff.I just pick up the one I need, hopefully the stuff will be there. As far as a range finder goes,I dont use one to much.In real world shooting situations, not to many times do you have time to range a buck, get the range finder out of your way,and then make a shot."as seen on TV"One way that I believe has helped me,after IM sure my bow is "on",I rarely shoot from a known distance,so I am constantly "rangefinding: ,in my mind.

I only use two different packs but i always put everything in exactly the same place. I guess that comes from one of my buddies that was in the rangers. He always said they packed everything in exactly the same place where each memeber could find something in anothers pack in the dark. Sounds crazy but it works for me. I can find stuff in my pack in the dark without having to shine a lite on it.

I put a small backpack on my API climber and carry my bow. When I get up in the tree I screw my bow holder in and slide the backpack onto it and up against the tree. I can now do things and have the backpack opened on one side and also have all my stuff readily available. Some of the bow hangers also have small hooks on them that are great for rangefinders and such.

Ditto the HSS vest, it works great.
I carry a backpack and strap it to my climber with a gator strap, it works just fine.

I primarily use ladder stands or hunt from the ground. I carry a small backpack. I use a vest for calls, hot hands, xtra ammo. Backpack has my water, snack, scents ropes etc. If in a stand, i use my pull rope and tie the backpack off on a rail or step so it is out of the way.

I use a climber 50% of the time as well. I have a fanny pack with ml equipment and quiver/pack with everything I need for my bow. I don't use calls so I don't have to worry about swapping them, but I have purchased two knives and two flashlights, that way I don't have to worry about those.
