I know how you feel jdyer. This will be the first year since 1992 that I haven't killed a deer. And it's not from lack of trying. I've certainly put in the treestand hours. not even a doe?
Nope. Didn't see many. But then most of the places I hunt aren't "high doe traffic areas." Most of the stands I hunted were placed for mature bucks, and they often have very different travel patterns than other deer.

I haven't killed anything but does in the last 5 years. I normally take 5 or 6 of those but only 2 this year. I've passed on plenty of opportunities at bucks but this was the first year in the last 5 that I didn't even have that opportunity. It's been one of the worst years in my deer hunting career. I might also add that I don't ever remember hunting around so much fresh sign and not seeing a deer while hunting. I haven't even had a shooter buck on camera since the last week in September. All in all, I'm glad that deer season is ending and I truely hope that whatever went on in the deer world this year that influenced such piss poor results and sightings never happens again whether I squeeze the trigger or not.

Last weekend of the season, I would put on a SLOW stalk along field edges and thickets in the morning, looking for fresh sign and keeping your eyes open for a shooter deer (a this point, probably anything).
If you can find an area where they are bedding/eating/traveling through. Consider setting up a quick ground blind or climbing stand and coming back there in the afternoon. During late season, there isn't as much likelihood of deer movement during mid-day, but if you have time to kill then it certainly wouldn't hurt your chances.

Sure I am whining but this forum is my therapy. I am glad 2009 is over turkey season was horrible and I was never able to seal the deal during archery, muzzle loader, or gun. I had my chances and well I pretty much suck!!!!!!!!!
This will be my first year in the last 4 that nothing has come home with me. I would like to think I have become a better hunter in the past 4 years but I can truely say I have gotten worse. I stink!!! I know people say being in the woods is the reward and I get that and enjoy being in the outdoors...but I hate sitting for long periods of time and my wife gives me grief about hunting and the time I am away so when there is nothing to show for it...well....I know I should feel blessed to be able to hunt lots of guys cannot and lots of guys are fighting to give us the ability to hunt and be free...but I just needed to vent my frustration somewhere.....There is next Saturday
Pitiful LOL. Sorry to hear you've had such a rough year. I'm glad my wife doesn't give me grief about hunting.....Id sure miss her. LOL

I probably need to clarify my wife is a good one but I know she would prefer me to spend less time hunting. I guess the guy that posted "a good wife and good job will kill good hunting" said it best.
Basically I can only hunt on Saturday's the holidays and obviously I save all my vacation time to hunt.
Also I only hunt in Greene or Cocke County neither is on the list of must hunt deer counties. I saw does cross behind me this year on posted property one of those signs placed directly behind my stand. It was frustrating since I was hunting basically the only woods on the property.
Thanks for the thoughts
