I am with you. Put in more hours than I can count this year. Have jumped a couple of does while walking and had a grand total of one doe walk by my stand. I am starting to doubt my hunting abilities but when I really think about it I have also not heard very many shots in the woods this year as compared to years past. So I guess it is just not me. Seems there have been quite a few of us East Tn hunters this year doubting our abilities.

Ditto that for me. I hunted a lot during archery and Mz season. Saw less deer than ever and ended up with only one deer- the only one I shot at. I think TWRA may have miscalculated the severity of EHD in East Tn.

Man I hope that is the reason. I know weather also had a lot to do with it. Lets hope things get better next year. Every monday guys at work want to know if I got something yet. Heck I am to the point now where I would be absolutely exstactic to see something.

If you look at the map in the hunting guide that shows the supposed effects of EHD in east Tenn it lists E Tenn as not losing many animals at all. This is a SWAG performed by TWRA.

I'm with in same boat. I had plenty of chances just didn't take them. I had a new baby and remodling the whole house. Couldn't ever clear my mind enough to stay in there. I was always thinking of what I should be doing.

I'm not saying the deer density hasn't declined (it may have), but just remember that what is seen during hunting may not have much relation to what is actually in the woods. Even on properties where the deer density changes little from year to year (confirmed with camera surveys), hunter reported sightings can change VERY dramatically from year to year. Environmental conditions can have profound influences on what hunters see moving during daylight.

Move to where? There is no land in East Tn with "lots of deer". Dont forget we dont have the luxury of killing does in rifle season either except for limited quota draw hunts.
