Good advice D.A......The Benoits from maine/vermont say it well. Dont get all kooked over land that "looks great".....go where the sign is. D.A. you said yourself...I hunt where the sign is, no matter the location. There must be sign to help get on deer....

I sound like Mike Belt but if you post his post on mine we sound like we both hunted in Wayne County. I probably hunt as much as any person on this site as i work in retail and can hunt every morning and close every night during hunting season and that is basically what i do each and every year. For the 6 weeks of the best hunting,,,,the MZ and both Gun seasons i hunted every day except Sunday for the most part..I logged a minimum of 4 hrs each morning and a min of 3 hrs in the evening and one of those weeks was a vacation week and i hunted all but 1.5 to 2.0 hrs per day!!!!
Worst season i have ever had in the last 13 as far as Seeing deer.i was skunked at least 13 times !!!!!once at laurel hill i sat for 7 straight hrs and NADA!!!
another time on our club i sat 7 st hrs and NADA!!!!
I hunt a mix of stands from pure cutover to mixed hardwoods to thinned pines to greenfields etc etc .........
Man what a frustrating year.

TNDRBSTR. I stand corrected. There are no places in East Tn with "lots of deer", that are accessible.
DEER ASSASSIN. Just move to a better spot. Why didn't I think of that.

jdyer,

There would be alot of people on this site in your shoes if we had to hunt Greene and Cocke counties. I'm not saying there isn't deer there, and you don't suck \:D but those counties in NE Tn are night and day different than other counties in East Tennessee, like Meigs, McMinn, etc. And most certainly East is different than Middle and West, etc.

Don't beat yourself up. Hang in there

Now BSK on the other hand, where he hunts and what he has to hunt, by him not killing a deer, that's worse than sucking. It's almost an embarrassment to the rest of us hunters.

next year, that is....I'm done for this year unless someone needs a juvy spot.

Very true,..not all hunting situations are equal. You just can't judge yourself by what other folks in differant areas are doing....

I am ALWAYS an embarrassment to the rest of hunters! Who ever heard of a heathenous, cat-loving hunter? ;\)

I don't know a thing about deer hunting, deer densities or land availability in Greene or Cocke counties, but I gotta agree with DA on this one.
I spend probably 2/3rds more time scouting (in season) and acquiring permission/leasing land than I do hunting.
It's pretty much a year round deal.
