What are the chances of a doe this time of season being pregnant? A buddy told me he shot one late season one time and it was carrying I just dont want this to happen to me. I don't think I got the heart for all that.

Shot one yesterday and it had a small sack about the size of a tennis ball. If you wasn't looking for it you wouldn't have seen it.

If a doe has been bred and came in estrous during the rut, then she is carrying!

Thats what I figured I mean I know after the rut they have been bred, I was just wondering if there was a way to distinguish this on the hoof. I guess its still too early to for the doe to show their size.

right now is when we do our most intense doe harvest on our farm... fetus size and length recorded over the years can give you a good idea when the rut was by using a fetal scale to determine when the does were bred.

I've found several fetus in late season does-some as big as a squirrel.
Not to quote Carl or anything.
