Nope I think it takes the fun out of hunting because I don't think that you have to look for the deer because their at the feeder

Baiting is a shortcut for lazy people who don't want to earn their kill the hard way.

Just like...
1. magnum rifles
2. high-powered scopes
3. inline muzzleloaders
4. compound bows
5. elevated treestands
6. hunting during the rut
7. ATVs

Everybody takes a shortcut one way or another, just a matter of which one you take.

Well yes,but usually at night,big ones anyway,I just dont want to have to buy corn to keep up with the neighbors,$7 a bag gets expensive quick.Plus promoting diseases

If it were legal i would bait the crap outta them. Not sayin i would kill every thing that came to the bait. Most of the time i just enjoy watching the deer.

I have skimed through this topic so I'am sure some of what I say has already been said but heres my two cent worth anyway.

I might or might not would depend on if there was another license fee,If there is I most likely would not,I feel the same on another fee for this as I do the current type 94 crap NOT Needed and should be apart of any Tn Hunting License. I don't an won't pay extra to shoot does now and wouldn't to Supplemental Feed or "Bait".

BTW I do have the Reg Sportsmen License at present and may or not get it again this comming year depends if I decide get on lease in middle tn.If I do I won't, Combo and ML.If I don't I likely will as that will likely mean I will try to go on some local WMA's

I do think that if the law is changed any New License Fee should Apply to All Wildlife Supplemental Feeding,not just for Hunter or "Baiters" includeing Back Yard Bird Feeders. I view it all the Same.

I see no difference in placeing Feed,Feeders out for Deer out of season or in season or hunting near or over them.

I also see no difference in Hunting over so called "Bait" any different than a Hunting over a "Food Plot","Acorn Tree","Scents" and others. The end goal is the same to Kill a Deer or other game.

I have hunted near "Bait" in GA and inside there regs. It ain't a slame dunk as many here think it is. Most hunters down there do so to "Sweeten the Pot" at least those I was around. Placeing Feeders or Corn on the Ground somewhere around there stands as an added attraction,same for salt an other items.

I do hope that any change here in TN will be a "CLEAR" YES or NO and even though it seems clear at present here it isn't,although much clearer than GA's.

GA doesn't allow hunting over Feeders,Bait or Salt visable above ground,However they will allow you to hunt 201 yards away and out of direct line of sight of it. So place it 201 yards and behind a busharound a bend and your good to go,In essencence makeing it "Legal"

I do not buy into all the negatives on this issiue from dieases to how it is viewed by others,although there is some merit to them.

This subject comes up at least once or twice a year...please!

Here is my take..a little different look at the whole subject.
To me it is a matter of choice. To me it should be legal, why do you ask...Very simple answer- If you want to hunt over bait then do so., If not then don't.
But why would you allow someone to tell you how you will hunt take everything they will give you and choose the way you want to hunt. Stop control of rights...You have the right to choose.

I have no need to bait or plant food plots.Most the deer I take come from alittle 25 acre plot. This land had a tornado go thru it several years ago.The fields are overgrown. Trees are down in the woods and covered with Honeysuckle. I do very little bush hogging . Just enough to clear a few paths and shooting lanes.I also have acess to farmland where beans and corn are planted.I don't see many deer there once the season starts. The deer feed on the leftover crops at night. They come to my overgrown sanctuary to spend the day.2nd half of the season when the acorns and other mast crops are gone new deer come in to feed. They are munching away on wild grasses,Honeysuckle,and Blackberry vines that didn't cost a dime.
The only good reason I see to change the law is to protect Non Baiters from those that do feed and bait.Over the years on TnDeer alot of hunters have posted about neighbors and other hunters putting out feed for deer and wildlife on property ajoining where they hunt. As the law is written now someone is prevented from legally hunting thier own property if someone next door is putting out food.

Do yourself a favor and checkout some of the programs offering $$ to get rid of fescue and planting Native Grasses. You will find the deer and other wildlife prefer natural native grasses over corn . Definitely over fescue they will eat it to fill thier bellies but it has no nutritional value.
