I guess I'm no different than others finding it a little harder to locate bucks during the days once the rut is over and the cold weather blows in... Any suggestions?

during this time of year when there is little to no acorns left i like concentrate my efforts looking for thicker areas that will offer some type of wind break and has available brouse. like cutovers, and type of logged area or a big patch of green briar. have seen alot of deer in those patches of green briar especially in the mountain.

I picked up a buck on my camera that I haven't seen since the middle of october. He was keeping a doe company. I think the rut in east tn is still hanging around.

Same here, also in Mcminn. Lots of new rubs found when I went scouting on my ridge on the Athens city limits this week. I killed a nice 8 point on Saturday and he had all the signs of a rutting buck.

G-N-B thanks for the encouragement on last nites discussion. I also moved here from Florida. Grew up in Upstate NY and could never used to that hunting with dogs technique in Fl.. Took up hunting again after 20 year hiatus when we moved here. Still trying to learn what I forgot and figure out how to hunt these "Mountain Deer". If you ever want to pass on some of what you had been shown when you moved here I certainly wouldn't turn you down.

Anytime and like I mentioned we can learn from every hunt.. At 41 I still learn something new every hunt and season.. Good luck..
P.S. You can also learn alot... from several guys on here... bowriter, BSK, BigGameGuy, and several others....

Thats why I am on here as much as possible. Haved aquired more info here since discovering this forum back in the fall than the rest of my three years here combined. I have met a ton of hunters here and it seems that most of them are on a lease or hunt private land and it is very hard to get anybody to show you the ropes.
