Why don't we go to a 4 buck limit. I don't have a real reason for this or have any evidence that it will make a difference. I just wanted to post something different...

Or....... just make it a free for all..... No season No Limit.. Treat them just like the Yotes... Doesnt matter anyway bowriter keeps throwing them in my ditch..

What are you joking?Iowa has had a one cardinal limit for years and look how big those birds are there.The bonus tag would ruin cardinal hunting in Tn.We would be killing them before they could moult.Sad some guys feel the need to shoot the young birds out of the nest before they mature.

I am interested in a cardinal outfitter in IA, suppose you could offer up a few since you are familiar with IA cardinals, bag limits, size etc. I am not a good wing shot either, so I would want them to be in the nest to increase my odds of a humane kill

Im in, and according to TWRA it probably wouldnt make any difference, and I sorta agree. Mindset is really the only limiting factor in place for most hunters anyway! Those capable of killing multiple bucks have set self imposed restrictions already, and those who will kill anything struggle to kill 1 or 2.

...your buck limit would be the number of does you kill +1.
For example:
0 does - 1 buck
1 doe - 2 bucks
2 does - 3 bucks
3 does - 4 bucks
.
.
.
14 does - 15 bucks
Seriously...this would be one of the most biologically sound limits. Maintaining a 50 - 50 ratio in our harvest would ensure a very healthy herd. This surely would do it. As long as our harvest numbers keep the herd under social and biological carrying capacity, we would be good to go. Any up for it?

Since most hunters prefer to kill bucks, we'll give them the perk of killing a buck first. Anyhow, I think a lot of folks will stack up on does first to ensure they'll have multiple bucks later.

How about progressive like darts, shoot a Doe, then a Spike on up to a 10pt, then you start over. But it doesn't reset at the end of the season, keeps going till you get the 10pt. To keep track of all this we will need to add some TWRA accountants, which is creating jobs, so maybe we can get Obama Bucks to pay for it all.
Or better yet we can create Teams, each consisting of a Hunter from each region, add up the inches to keep score, have playoff and chamionchip hunts at the end of the year. We can BCS to keep up with that.
