Tough call.
I shot a doe at close range once with a rifle and she did that. Went down and bulldozed for about 50 yds and flopped over and started kicking. About 5 minutes later she stood up and started walking off. I was trying to shoot at her agian but it was too thick. She staggered about 50 more yards and keeled over.
Her lungs were toast. No idea why she lived as long as she did but she did!

Almost sounds more like a high hit under the spine.a lot of those deer go down for a while then get back up and are never found.hope cecil is right.If he is then it won't be far.

I shot one last year in the "dead zone" between the lungs and the spine. She went down hard, the got back up 5 mins later and took off. Good luck.

Like I said earlier those high hits don't turn out good a lot of the time.Just because you didn't find a lot of blood does not mean you made a high shot,but it will sure make it hard to find the deer.Good luck.
