Got one for Christmas. When the time comes, (first of Bow season), how is the best way to hang it ? Do you guys make a bracket or maybe use a coat hanger to hold it in your tree?
Do you spray any kind of scent on it ?
Thanks

They sell a holster for it that has a quick snap buckle. I just snap it on the side of the stand.
I love mine, I turkey hunted in the Wolf River bottoms with it and the skeeters never bothered me.

Big is right, get a holster and strap it to stand or tree. No spray scent needed. If a deer comes in down wind your busted anyway.

As far as the smell goes, I have been using mine for two years and haven't had a deer spook from it yet! I just use the regular pads, never tried the earth scent. I do hunt at least 25 ft with a bow. Never tried using it on the ground, that might be a problem. The smoke that comes out is hot and it seems to rise keeping out of nose reach. And I also suggest you buy a holster, just hang it from a screw in hook.

They work great. Used mine for the first time last year. Would wait until the biters got so bad I could not stand it. Would turn it on and in a matter of mins they were gone. That little tool is a great addition to the bow hunters box. Like everyone else has stated get the holster it makes it nice to carry and hang

They do work more efficiently laying flat but hanging is an option.

Mine too...sometimes I just tie the tree stand strap (extra strapping after fastening the stand to the tree) around it and let it hang. I've even laid it on the ground underneath. If it's too close to you it's possible that it will give you a headache...at least I think that's what it was and not the beer from the night before

I have been carrying one for at least 5 years. When they first came out I was hunting South Carolina swamps in August and September. The little critters would absolutely eat you alive even with a bug suit. I tried that and never had any more problems, it was unbelievable. I love em

I hunt the Hatchie river bottoms, and the skeeters are absolute monsters there. It would be tough to hunt there without the Thermacell during early season. My only complaint is that it takes a good 3 or 4 minutes to really get the skeeters off of me after I fire it up.
The Thermacell works in either position, but Thermacell says to use it laying flat because using it in the upright position can damage it it because of the heat flowing over the plastic parts.
It's in the manual.

Thgis has been mentioned in several posts on different forums but I'll post it here as well. When you get ready to buy refills on the fuel cartridges Walmart carries them in the hair products section under "Con Air" hair curlers. They come in a 2 pack and are the very same cartridges you buy in the hunting section but alot cheaper. This only applies to the fuel cartridge refills and not the pads. I always seem to go through more fuel than pads.

I've made a simple strap for mine and secure it to my stand once in the tree then just lay it flat beneath my seat.

I think the directions tell you to lay it flat for best results and longer life the best I recall.

They work great

Wouldn't go hunting without mine. Some of the best money I've ever spent on hunting items. Make sure you have plenty of fuel cell, it does go through them.

Mike Belt, thanks for the info on the refill cartridges. I need to get some and was looking around for a deal. I have 8 or 9 pads already. Any idea how much they cost at Walmart? I found what looks like a real good deal for a 2 pack at $4.99 plus shipping

That is the best price I have ever seen, however, when shipping is factored in, that may not be the case. If you can get the cartridges for $2.50-3.25 out the door you are doing pretty good.
