My dad had a bad accident out of a deer stand on opening day of gun season and he's really getting too old to be using one. He likes the idea of a box blind and I'm wanting to keep him hunting as long as possible. Is there a way to build a nice box blind that doesn't cost way to much money ? maybee under 300$ or less would be nice. Any plans or suggestions would be great.

Look on Nashville Craigslist. There is a guy that is selling old porta potties that can be converted to box blinds. I think he is selling them for $250 approximately.

1st thing I thought of was a old port-a-pot.

I just finished another new one today, except the roof. I am deciding what type of roof to put on it. If you are interested shoot me a PM.

think about also putting holes in floor frame to put a rod thru and some wheels- just get small jack and they are on and off.

get a couple good pop-up blinds. I have two, me and my son put chairs in them. they block the wind and I think you can get rain flys for most at least a tarp if needed. you could get a decent one for less then 100 and a nice chair and he's set.

I have a pop up but didn't like sitting on a short chair or bucket all day. Made a blind that fits in the back of my truck so it can be moved around and I can load and unload it by myself. 8' 4x4 post with 2x4 frame. Wrapped the outside with tyvek paper then used 1/2" plywood for sides, 3/4" for floor and roof. The paper really helped to keep the wind out so there was no need to insulate. The floor is 2' off the ground and I'm sitting in a nice adjustable computer chair so I can rotate and see out all 4 windows. My windows are 5' off the ground which gives better visibility than my pop up did. The window frame makes a nice solid shooting rest also. Small shelf across the front to set food and drinks on, hooks placed around to hang backpack, binocs, gun and other items to keep them from under foot. I wish I had a place of my own because I'd make a bigger one that sat a little higher. Sure made sitting all day a lot easier.
