Just drove over Hobson Pike Bridge heading toward Mt, Juliet. Lake was calm except for that cove heading into Long Hunter. Fish busting shad everywhere.

Match the size of the shad they are chasing. Flukes work great. Don't run over the fish.

StrikeKing Sexy Shad 3/4oz lipless crank. Cast to the otherside of the bust and retrieve straight through it.

Make sure you hold on to your rod.

Flukes, senkos, spinnerbait, rattletrap. I also like throwing a 1/4-1/2 oz. Sworming Hornet tipped with a Lake Fork Shad or baby fluke when they are schooling and yo-yo it, or, just stop and go on the retrieve. Did real well at Guntersville doing this on the schooling fish there this past weekend.

This is a big one here that a lot of people mess up on. It drives me crazy when I'm fishing to busting fish and some doofus runs up and plows their boat right over the top of them. Even if you cut your motor off and don't spook the fish, you can scatter the bait if you get too close, and this will put them down every time.

I've been using a #2 Flash by Blue Fox. It runs about a foot or less with a pretty fast retrieve. I use it with my ultra lite spinning rod and it is a blast but make sure your drag is set or back crank. We have caught white bass, small hybrids and decent bass up to 2.5 lbs.in the jumps. It has been our best year for white bass on Priest.
