Only problem with the boga grip is the scale stops at 30 pounds. They have a model that goes to 60, but it's twice as expensive. A scale that goes to 30 isn't any good for stripers - that's just where it starts to get interesting. \:\)

Nice one! I fish boone occasionally with my kayak. Its fun getting towed around by a striper. I have some video footage of it somewhere. Here's one I caught in February on Boone.

Brian, I agree, but for just the fact of saving yourself from getting a hook in your hand, the 30 lb boga's do just fine. My largest was just over 38 lbs, weighed on a set of digitals, and the 30 lbs boga's held him just fine. Fishing nothing but topwater as I do (all my lures have 4X strong gamakatsu treble hooks) it is no fun unhooking them without the boga's to help.
I try to put the stripers close to the boat as fast as possible and get them off to release. Yes I kill some fish, but release over 90 percent of the fish I catch. I normally fish by myself, so most of my pictures are of the ones I keep.

I take a measurement and use this chart..
http://www.stripers247.com/striped-bass-length-to-weight-chart.php
It will get you close.

Holston, I would not trust that chart for Cumberland river stripers, especially FAT ones, not even close. The striper pictured was 36" on the nose and was just over 30 lbs. The chart says 22 lbs max. I have caught many more that were blown up like balloons with bait they had eaten and that chart is not even close.
