It has 2 anchor systems. The posts sit in these post holders that are made of metal and have spikes on the end of them. They are hammered 36" into the ground and then the posts set down in them and bolted in. The second is a cable that goes to an augured eye bolt that is 36" long and has 80 lbs of concrete on top of it. The stand sits in a valley so that the straight line winds wont it it directly. It would take a tornado to knock it down.

Looks very nice. How much do you have tied up in it? I would like to build one similar.

Looks very nice. How much do you have tied up in it? I would like to build one similar.
I cost quite a bit. I built it in my garage over several months so as to sneak the cost under the wife radar
I used all deck screws which drove the cost up a bit. I bought them in small boxes and should have just bought the big bucket. If yo build it with nails, the nails will work there selves out when the wind moves it back and forth over time. Always use screws.
I guess I probably have about $800 in it. And about 40hrs of work. I took my time and I am not a master carpenter. I do allot of measuring 3 or 4 times.
I put the legs on it onsite. 4 of us stood it up and walked it back into the post holders. It is heavy but manageable.
You could buy something for about the same price or chyeaper but it wouldn't be built like you build one your self and of course when you build it, it feels more like yours. At least thats how I am about it. I love to build stuff.
If you are on a tight budget, you can spread it out. Allot of materials come into play I didn't originally think about like caulk, paint, padding for interior, etc. The longer it sits in the garage, the more that gets added I guess.
My next one will be a 4x6 or a 4x8 and I will build it onsite. It would be too heavy to stand up assembled.
It was a fun project.
