I'm selling my 16-ft. jonboat. What as far as paperwork does that entail? It's registered, etc., but I don't know how to transfer ownership, registration, etc. Help please?

the buyer will need a bill of sale to take to the clerk's office. there he/she will pay taxes and registration fees.

How was the bonyfish fishing?

Yeah, ain't that pitiful???!!!
Actually, I need the room more than the boat, and I'll still have the Riverhawk. Man, I had some great times on the jonboat, though. I had an old galfriend that got plenty of carpet burns in that thing! \:D
Glad my wife doesn't come on tndeer. \:D

I'll have to post some pics. of the bonefishing soon, but the honeymoon was awesome!

If you are registering in davidson county you need a notarized bill of sale.

Some folks I've heard about (not you certainly) have been inclined to write a Bill of Sale for LESS than the actual amount sold for.

But I know some County Clerks are very good at watching out for that... and will actually check "Blue Book" prices on various vessels and if your Bill of Sale is significantly different from blue book... they'll balk on registration (or taxes charged).

I sold a boat and got a letter back from Tennessee Governement, asking what I sold it for, it said the person who registered it claimed one price and it was way below the book price. They asked was anything wrong with the boat. Since I could not contact the person, I told the truth , I never heard anything else, I always wondered if the Government went back after the extra tax..Best I remember the letter stated if the price is 40% below book value they question the sale.
