I am just wondering if anyone else heard this and no I do not have names nor am I asking for them, but this needs to be addressed...

...it was brought to my attention that in the past month or so, two guide boats have been flipped WITH CLIENTS [one a drift and another a supreme jet] potentially killing a grand total of 6 people. I'm the first one to give someone a second chance, and everyone craps their pants now and again...but man, this is something different. HOoks buried in the back of heads? Yeah, I can see that happening with clients; no one's fault particularly. Maybe a jolt or stumble that leads to falling i the boat or at worse, someone on the front deck not paying attention or something and upon hitting something falling in. But for a guide...to flip a boat...isn't that like the angling equivalent of medical malpractice? Shouldn't they be required to make people aware of their safety record? I'm not trying to stir up, but I just find it preposterous that we just kinda act like this didn't happen if it did. I mean, yeah, I guess I kinda do want to hold some feet to the fire on this...but to me, if there's a POSSIBILITY of you hitting and flipping a boat with clients...why are you out on the water with people's lives at stake? I would want to know this before going in the boat with someone for the day.

Haven't heard this.

Saltwater?
Where?

I got it from a VERY reliable source....who shall remain anonymous...on the Caney.
I also know of a guide telling a client to step out of the boat to wade because it was only a foot deep...and it was 7-8. This has all apparently been in the past 2 months.

Well...I heard this FROM a guide...

...a guide I trust and one of whom I consider truly competent on the water as an angler and boater for his years of experience and track record....except for that one time he lost his grip on the handle WHOOOOOOOPS haha...everyone poops. I imagine there's a REASON you haven't heard about it. Had you heard of the clinic in Reno few months ago that potentially infected 40,000 people with HIV? Look all I know is what I heard, but I do believe that if this DID occur, it should be posthumously displayed. This is kind of serious guys. I understand stuff happens....motors break, hooks get buried, its not a sport without its risks....but flipping a boat is tantamount to hazardous incompetency, especially what so many consider to be the "safe" conditions [once again...higher water, less hazards...].

I'd have to see proof, that much stuff happening is gonna get out and people are gonna know about it. I'll judge when I see proof as I'm sure most other on here will.

Like I said..I'm not judging, I'm not saying one way or another, and I don't know for sure. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard or known of this. I know this guy wouldn't have said anything or just made it up if he had not heard it from a reliable source himself. I'm not trying to stir stuff up. I'm NOT trying to get anyone shut down or anything, and stuff happens, I realize this...but holy cow. I was not told who or how, but just that it did occur. I mean...if a sex offender moves next door, you'd want to know right? Well...if I'm out in the boat with someone who has flipped a boat on that particular river, I'd like to know that as well. And I think alot of people would agree.

"I'm NOT saying, BUT I'm saying" I hear what your saying there Tubakka.

TN has no legal qualifications to call one's self "a guide". It's not compared to in any way when you hire a licensed captain in SC or FL to take you out to fish.

$400 a day float trip down a tailwater will make many folks jump into that when that kind of money is thrown around.

I have heard the report about the boat being flipped. A close fishing buddy claims to have "fished" some of the contents of one boat out of the river.

In the one case, as I was told, two clients were in their 60s. One should know not to short anchor in low water, I am told.....

Yet another reason guides should be licensed in the state of Tennessee, imo. And people should not be out fishing on two or more generators...
