A friend and I decided to try our luck again yesterday at a different launching area and head upstream with the trolling motor and float back down .
It worked out well with the Gheenoe as we stopped and wade fished the many shoals along the way up and back downstream while beaching the boat on the shoals . We caught some smallies and spotted bass , mostly on beetlespins and slider worms . I hung a nice one on and lost it while fishing the seam between very fast water and slack water on an outside bend .
Overall it was a good relaxing trip on the water . I might take the jet boat on the next trip just to cover more water . I'll probably have to get out and drag it through some of the extremely shallow shoals because the water level is so low .

It's an older model 13' low sider that I bought off a fellow Tndeer member . It's much more stable than a canoe thats for sure .

Yeah, the stability on the Gheenoes can't be beat. I've got a Gheenoe Classic. The reason I was asking is because I've never fished the Duck. I was wondering if it's more "canoe water" or if I could use my boat there okay. I'd like to get into some of those Duck River smallies one of these days.

It depends on the location and water level . There are some areas suitable for boats that you can motor through , and other areas that are filled with shallow shoals that are more suitable for a jet drive or floating through with a canoe .

How big of a trolling motor would be needed to push a 13' Gheenoe upstream at the caney with one generator? Two people on board.

I doubt you could do it on the Caney . The Duck has many slack water areas that can be navigated with a 36 lb. trust trolling motor . I just pulled it through the shallow riffles .
