Here we are just now the turkeys are getting fired up. A few people i've talked to said that last weekend was HOT, birds gobbling everywhere! One said he grabbed his call and called 5 of them up. He hunted this place all during seaon only to kill one and only have heard maybe 3 birds gobble all season.

This makes me think the seasons are screwed up, this is why everyone think they ain't no birds when the birds are still with the hens come the last week of season.

The birds are gobbling later and later cause of more hens to breed.

I heard a bird gobble two nights ago from my front porch gobbled about 5 times good. First one i've heard all year.

Makes me wonder..... I think keep the bag limits the same just push the season up two weeks. Better than that, split the state, like the deer season "WAS", give us units.

I still think east TN runs later than west and middle TN. The mountain gobblers don't get hot until the last week. The last weekend of season I chased a bird for 6 hours to have a hen take him away from me.

it seems like higher elevations birds gobble later in the season.where I hunt it starts to late. After the first 2 weeks it slows down and after the third week we stop hunting because they are not gobbling much at all by then.i would like season to open earlier.juv. hunt is awesome most years.

If you push the season up a few weeks in Wartburg, you won't like the results. If anything it could close now, and we would have better hunting in the mountains.

Bsl, the argument for early is a tough one, if you open it up too early then you will face the teeth of the hardest times, with birds in huge flocks and yes they gobble well, but can be hard to kill.

Season dates are fine now, if your birds don't gobble late it is from too much pressure early in the season.

Hook I am not pushing for a season change. Also please stop telling that I am putting to much pressure on my turkey. You don't hunt with me so you don't know .There are basically two of us hunting 300 plus acres.i am the only one who moves around. The other guy sits on a field. They just don't gobble late. There is land around us that is not hunted and they stop gobbling there also.Again please stop telling me that we are putting to much pressure on the turkey and ruining are hunt. This is about the fifth time you have said that.Amazing how you can claim to know what happens on land you never hunt.

I know what has happened when I hunt small properties too much and have driven them silent myself. No I do not know your exact situation, and was making more of a broad based comment then really singling you out. ALthough 300 acres is fairly small, and could be pressured with 1 time a week wandering, however I have no clue what the property is like or anything else, so it would be impossible for me to say one way or another what is going on with you, but it is one of two things, hens or pressure.

If birds aren't gobbling during our season, then it is due to hens. End of story, if it is not over pressure.

Saw two big boys out in a cut hay field this morning strutting and carrying on like it was late March instead of early June. Honked the horn at one and he gobbled back at it.

I just had one almost give me a heart attack. Was sitting on the porch and he gobbled about ten feet away. I had no idea he was there. He uses the yard as a strut zone. Im gonna ask if he will mow it.
