So our harvest falters, yet KY hits a record number. Wow, good to see our regs stay the same. They killed just a few less birds then we did with a season that lasts twice as long. Not to mention they can only kill 2 birds compared to our 4.

Would love to see Mr. Gray's take on this, that won't happen though.

and 25% of the harvest was jakes. So I guess you'll want KY to drop the limit to 1 bird so people will let the jakes walk.

2009 Tennessee harvest: .77 birds/square mile, 20.6% juvenile (jakes)
2009 Kentucky harvest: .73 birds/square mile, 25.0% juvenile (jakes)

I'll pass this information on to Mr. Gray. It appears as if Kentucky is finally catching up to us. 'Bout time too! \:D

What "take" are you looking for?

\:D Must be the dirt. \:D

I bet they set a new record again next year, since they had their best hatch in history.

It's Funny
How the powers that be will not adjust the limit even though Tn has had declining harvest totals and poor hatches.

It's like global warming......Just a natural occurance that will balance out in a few years and then we'll have more birds than them before you know it. \:D

There is another way to look at it BGG.

2008
KY- 0.57 adults per sq. mile
TN- 0.72 adults per sq. mile

2009
KY-0.53 adults per sq. mile
TN-0.59 adults per sq. mile

As you can see, KY's harvest dropped .04 adult gobblers per sq mile. Meanwhile TN's harvest dropped .13 adult gobblers per sq mile.

Sure TN is killing more per square mile than KY is, but KY is doing this (within .06 adults per sq mile of us this year) with HALF the season and HALF the limit. Is maximum killage per square mile really TN's goal? I would hope it would be more along the lines of maintaining a sustainable turkey population that isnt doing these wild fluctuations like our population is but hey thats just me.
