I would hope it would be more along the lines of maintaining a sustainable turkey population that isnt doing these wild fluctuations like our population is but hey thats just me.

This is where our disconnect lies. We have absolute numbers that say a three-week season and two-bird limit kills almost the exact same amount of birds as a six-week,four-bird limit. I for the life of me can't understand why you would want to limit yourself or others when the results of the two option are the same?

Because the results are not the same. I outlined that in another thread.

BGG it should point out that overall populations are lower in one place versus another.

If there are more birds in place X, then it creates more hunter opportunity and thus results in higher harvests in a shorter period of time.

What the numbers for hunter success between the two. It looks like they have more individual hunters killing turkeys.

According to the deer hunter numbers posted here, we have more deer hunters then they do, which should equate to more turkey hunters then they do.

We have no way of really knowing exactly how many turkey hunters we have in this state.

I am sure KY knows exactly how many since they have a special license for spring turkey. It is just finding that info.

But we should be able to tell how many hunters killed 1,2,3,or4.

KY should have more individual hunters that killed a turkey than TN.

We can tell that, but it really doesn't mean much if we don't know the total number of folks who hit the field.

I bet KY does have a higher success rate per hunter since according to the data posted here they have less hunters then we do. But I have nothing to back that up.
