Good tips! Just for fun - ants don't like to cross chalk. The kids will have fun drawing lines outside on the porch and watching the ants walk all the way around it. They will eventually cross, but it can be fun playing with it. The powdered chalk that comes in the retractable string line deals for "popping" lines is even more fun.

quarterly pest control treatment stopped them here and I just have the outside treated..I had ants everywhere when I bought this place. 214.00 per year...well worth it.
on a side note i like pouring pine cleaners on them or did...LOL

I like it when all my Ants are in the kitchen, usually means one heck of a dinner is being prepared. They know how to cook a meal!

My Neighbor told me this week if you have too many ants in your yard, to sprinkle corn meal around the mounds. Something about they can't digest it and it will kill off the ants. I haven't tried it, but she has and said it worked.

Yep, Terro works and it works fast. Had a major ant problem one morning back in the spring, got the Terro out and the ants were gone by evening. Make sure you put enough liquid out to saitsfy them. i also used a piece of foil, crimped it up like a little bowl about the size of a bottle cap, filled it up with Terro and didn't have to keep reapplying to the littel squares that come with the product.

This works great, just takes a little longer than some commercial poisons.

Borax or boric acid mixed with powdered sugar gets them too.

My wife has a remedy that works every time. Get you a 5lb bag of sugar and pour you a line all the way around the base of your house, right up against the foundation. Gives them a different food source and they stay out of your house.
