lots of different catfish are called mudcats.

I was always told mudcats were bullheads and rarely reach any great length. They do have a somewhat flatter head than a channel or blue. Usually colored up like a darker version of a yellow or clathead.

The only way I have had sucess Flathead fishing is using small Bluegill or,large shiners for bait.They do look different than a Channel.blue or bullhead.

Caught 2 last friday..they never get big,maybe a pound or two..never ate one..Looks too nasty..LOL!
