folks that know me know I have been trying to take a turkey with my longbow this year.well today I had 2 chances. inside 2 minutes. both were misses. with my bad hearing, I thought the bird was going to come around on my right side. turns out all 3 of them showed up on my left side. pictures (or videos) say it all.

sorry for the bad video. I didnt realize the sun was going to be that direct in the face when I set the blind up. I need a shade for the camera. plus doing it from a regular camera in movie mode doesnt get you many options. I wanted the sound and with the sound being recorded, the zoom doesnt work so the picture seems small.

Hey Eddie, good deal on the encounter. Is the tall deke on the left a jake? Facing the sun, they appear to be facing away from you? If this is the case, and for whatever its worth, I've always had better luck with the dekes facing me instead of away from me. Seems to draw them in closer. My son went today and had one gobble at him for over an hour, and "maybe a hundred times", with no apparent real interest in ever checking him out. Where were you? I have managed to kill one since I saw you last, but of course, I did it the old fashioned way.......with a load of #6's. lol

thanks for the 'pats on the back', guys.

4onaside, that one on the left is a hen, standing at attention. the wind blew them around the stake today. I was on the lease in Perry Co.

a guy at work and I was discussing decoy setups. he usually uses 3, one at attention, one feeding and one sitting. I recalled seeing two live hens on one of my trips alternating sentry while they were feeding. I thought it was worth a try.

I'm still searching for the "magic" deke combo. Since I've started to experiment in the past couple of weeks, as far as I know, no gobblers have even gotten close enough to eyeball my sets. I set up a jake practically on top of an upright hen, and a hen became highly agitated, clucking and yelping loudly for maybe 20 minutes. At other times, three different hens basically ignored the dekes and went about their normal business. However, another hen saw the dekes, and started putting and ran off. I really think that if I could get a gobbler within sight of my jake mounting hen setup, that I might trigger an aggressive reaction. At least, I hope that I have the opportunity to see if it works.

eddie, I am sitting in a blind bowhunting right down the road from you with little action. They aren't gobbling much this morning. Congrats on being in the mix. I will watch the video when I get home.
