there is a slough on one side, flat bottom land in the middle and a huge bluff on the other side and there is a big field at the farthest part of the flat land , and thats where this bird is going in the mornings .
now he is roosting about 200 yards inside the woods back from the field and from the entrance i am not able to get in front of him cause iam scared i will spook him off the roost in the mornings,
because i would have to walk right under him ! and i cant use the bluff to go around cause then i would be eye level with him .

so i think an evening hunt might be the only way to get a crack at him, but where would you set up ? in the field or in
between the field and where he roosts in the woods ?

whats your suggestions ? thanks

If you find that he has come back ,like others have said, just get there before the sky starts getting light,I'm talkin early.
If you have to walk near his tree he shouldn't spook,he'll think your a deer, kinda like when deer hunting,a deer walks under you before daylight you can't tell what's what, that bird will will be no different, now go kill him!

Leave extra early and go to where he is going. He shouldn't bump in the dark. All sorts of stuff wanders around in the dark and he should be asleep. Just make sure it is wayyyy before the first hint of light.

Welcome to my world Population Control. The few turkeys we have too hunt never do the same thing two days in a row. How early you got to go in too not spook them? I been hearing my first gobbles in the morning about 5:45 am. How long before that should i get there?

Muddy I get where I'd need to be by 5:00 and just set there until it was getting pretty light, and then just make a couple of soft calls.

I try to get my eyes used to the light and not even use a flashlight in the woods. I try to get set up no later than 5:00. I can usually set up near the birds, but no guarantess they'll fly down on top of you! LOL!
