I'm new to turkey hunting (just began hunting and got first bird this year) but i must confess, it seems to be more fun than deer hunting to me. Not that I'm swearing off deer hunting by any means, but I think I'll actually be looking forward to spring turkey more than fall deer. Which do you prefer?

Yote hunting's my next venture. Saw 4 in broad daylight at the farm where I hunt last week. Can't wait to try to call some in.

I have a good time yote hunting with my buddy and sons too...we rarely get one but it's fun as heck to call them in...I like to eat what I shoot and that's the only drawback with yotes

Hard to say. I take deer hunting much more serious, a mature buck is much much much harder to kill than a mature gobbler. I get frustrated and mad alot more in deer season because of all the idgets running around trespassing, spotlighting, roadhunting, etc and turkey season isnt so bad for that type stuff. Its just really hard for me to say, they both have their pluses and minuses. At least with turkeys you get to hear right where they are if they are gobbling.

Good points. It is definitely harder to kill a mature deer than a gobbler. Deer season tends to bring idgets out of the woodwork, too. There just seem to be more people hunting deer than turkey overall.

I like the fact that a hot gobbler will talk to ya before he heads to your dinner table, but getting a quality deer is more of a satisfying accomplishment, especially when you've been hunting a particualr buck. Then again, I'd guess to some degree hunting a particular old tom would be satisfying in the same sense. Dang, I guess I'll just have to keep doing both.

I'll be starting trying my hand at yotes just after turkey ends. The farm I hunt is eat up with 'em. Killed 2 during deer and keep seeing them in daylight in middle of fields and log roads. Funny thing is, I've been told not to kill a particular one because it's the farmer's neighbor's 'pet' yote?

No doubt. It's my first season for gobblers and I've only gotten to hunt one 'good' day. The rest have been rainy, cold, snowy; my buddy's 4 wheeler broke down a mile in the woods; locked my keys in the truck; lost my wallet; couldn't get my stuff straight early on and kept stumbling onto spooked birds (geez I sound like a greenhorn)! Finally figured some things out and got a good Tom, now I'm on the right path.

this is only my second year turkey hunting and i'm starting to like it better than deer. The weather is more comfortable and there are alot less people in the woods in my area.
