The hunting is this year in this part of the state for me, and the folks I know and interact with daily.

I have walked over 20 miles in the last 3 days, and have heard 1 bird gobble twice.

Something is seriously wrong with this season in the higher elevations.

I hoped it would be better this year, but it is worse then I could have ever imagined. There is butt loads of hen sign, but very very little gobbler sign. I call hens in continuously during the day, but they are all alone. Not just singles, but groups of 8-10 hens with no gobblers. Strangest thing I have ever seen.

I guess the baiters and poachers may have finally beat down the numbers to the point that this is what TN turkey hunting is going to be like.

I know myself, and about 8 others who are experiencing the silence of a lifetime. Anyone else feel alone when the sun rises each morning?

Same here Capn. I have seen very very few turkeys compared to any other year. Heard very very few also. Im having to walk an average of 4 miles just to hear a dang turkey. Sad.

It must be way different in your mountains than mine.

Ive been to 3 different counties hunting and gobbles at every one of my places.

I heard the most turkeys gobbling Ive ever heard last week, way up in elavation.

Whether or not I see, hear or kill any in the morning, I'll be out there amongst em. A week ago Wednesday, they were hittin it pretty good. Yesterday however, not at all. But I'd hate to be in bed if and when they start hollerin in the morning. lol

Gil, didn't your place get hammered pretty good by last year's tornado?
