It is not just you guys, they have lockjaw here in NC as well. Very few people have tagged a bird or seen a gobbler through the first whole week of hunting. I have heard a couple birds but they were far off on neighbors. It should pick up when the hens nest but I am about to lose my mind waiting on that to happen...

Less than two weeks ago, I was blowin' off about how many gobblers I had vs. hens. Well, that was immediately following what has been the "best" day of the season. A kill, multiple gobblers sounding off and seen, etc. and very few hens. Well boys, the worm has turned. lol
I hunted most of the day yesterday, and nary a sound! Did encounter two hens in the early afternoon and watched them feeding in the pasture for the better part of an hour. And, I did see a flock of maybe 6 or 7 running from me when I was in my car departing my place. Maybe they were the gobblers that I encountered as a group last week(hope so, but couldn't tell from that distance). At any rate, I do have turkeys. Just silent

This was the sixth morning i have hunted in a row. I have heard one to two gobblers a morning maybe gobble onc or twice each. Very little sign. There are still turkeys around just not like it was 4 or 5 years ago.

I've only got to hunt the first two weekends of the season in west TN but I heard more birds than I've ever heard. We shot 4 birds. I'm suprized to hear that others aren't hearing more birds.

Small potatoes stuff in the big picture ain't it? For those of us who can't go out there to hear whether the're gobbling or not, that's the real deal. Be it age or disability or even attitude, sooner or later we all get to that point. But I'm going down swingin'! lol

It has been more like a day late
dollar short, for me. The birds are there, they have not been very vocal at all. One day they are gobbling on the roost, I hear soft morning yelps, and a few fly down.

After that I might hear 1 or 2 birds gobble, for 15 minutes.
After that it's over.

My dad goes on his off days and has taken 3.

I haven't seen gobbler yet, but plenty of hens.
if u let'em go they'll grow... QDM

More of the same over the weekend, birds gobbling like crazy on the limb. Once they hit the ground they will gobble some but they just follow the hens wherever they go. Me and the boys were set up on gobbling birds both mornings, watched them fly down and strut away with the hens!
