The other day while walking and calling I had a turkey gobble from where I'd been about 15 mins. before and wasn't able to call him in to my current location. Do you stay in an area for a few minutes after you call or stay on the move?

If he answered you, stay put at least an hour. Hard to do if he isn't talking, but I bet anyone that has hunted much can tell you of birds flying off after they had sat for a spell and decided to move after he went quiet. Turkeys have their own time, and most of the time, they aren't in a hurry.

I guarantee that patience has killed more turkeys than anything since man started hunting them.

If I don't get a response I'll stay on the move..that's just how I roll.

What VolDoug said !

I sat and watched two mature gobblers in strut this past weekend stand in ONE SPOT for over 20 minutes.
They were in full strut and never moved a muscle.
If one answers me I stay put because more times than not, he WILL come in....just might be a while.
Youth is wasted on the young.

Now if one answers me I'll absolutely stay put,an old bird sometimes takes forever to work his way in.

Good advise. I had one answering occassionally once, through a thicket and across a hollow. I gave up and went prospecting. When I came back he jumped and flew from almost where I was sitting.

Another time i was calling and one was coming. Following the advise of "make it easy for him to get to you", I made a small move so he could bypass a small thicket. Wrong. He gobbled where I was when he first answered me.

Stay put if he answers and do not over call.
