i use a turkey diaphram to make a peacock, or the never fail coyote tube howler. and i only use those to find one at sunrise, after that turkey calls.

If they are gobbling good they will answer a crow or your yelp or gobble on their own.a loud call might get them to gobble when nothing else will but they only seem to gobble one time and never work to a call so I usually stick with a crow call to locate and yelps and cutts to kill.

Woods Wise peacock is hard to beat. I like to ease in an area and start w a hawk call, just in case there is a turkey nearby. I then try a crow call. If no response, I bust out the peacock call. If I have my gear w me and have a decent place to set up, I'll use a loud box or slate call. If I can get a gobble I'll move into position and use a mouth call.

I have always had better luck by just cuttin or yelping.
Don't think I have ever had a turkey gobble at a locator call.
