Saw this on TV the other day regarding starting a fire outdoors in regards to Vaseline jelly (Petroleum jelly).

Melt the Vaseline in the jar in a small pot of water on the stove.

Place cotton balls inside a vacuum bag, and then pour the melted vaseline over the cotton balls

I tried one today and it burned in the wind for about 4 minutes!

So I added some small chips of fatwood to the bag, and then threw in 2 boxes of matches. I then took the bag and inserted it into another vacuum bag (now two all together), and vacuum sealed them for future use.

You never know when you might need it.

they do work good. I carry some in a film canister in my pack .

good idea, I usually carry a bag of drier lint with me, it works good to.

I usually carry around some belly button lint with me but that's another story!
