im sure there are a few people that hunt owl hollow on here. if you have hunted there have you ever seen anyone hunting out of a boat? ive seen this person or i think its the same person several times that rides around and owl hoots and crow calls in every cove and then takes off to the next cove and repeats. well the birds dont gobble at his calls they gobble at his outboard when he pulls in the cove and takes off so he cant hear them. this guy gets under my skin something terrible. i shot at a bird the middle of last week and missed and the bird flew across the lake. well i guess the bird had called the boat hunter in aswell as myself. so no sooner the dang bird flew across the lake dude fired up his boat and was in hot prusuit and blowing on the owl hooter. i wish i was making that up. im sure that dude is having a good time blowing on all his calls trying to get a gobble, but everytime i see him i wanna shove that crow call down his throat. whats everyone elses thoughts on hunting out of boats on public land? i personally think its a unfair advantage over people that only have pat and turn to get around on.

Nothing worse then the run and gun locator crowd. They only wish to find birds as fast as possible, not realizing that they spook or shut up more birds then they locate. I really wish locator calls would not have ever been found or invented. They are without question the most over used and over rated tool in a turkey hunters arsenal.

you may be right. he has probably saved more birds lives than alot of peta members. hes been at it for years. i know its the same guy cause he always pulls out the ole peacock call every year.

i have NEVER had a bird gobble at a locator call. I hear crows and woodpeckers, owls, hawks, and (on the river) geese all the time in the woods and NEVER had a turley gobble at them. Airplanes, cars, doors slamming, gunshots yes, but no locators.

I think if your not gonna take the time to really hunt why even go if it was me i would probably set up my decoys in a cove an when he cam in i would ask him if he was handicaped an if not i would tell him to get off his lazy [censored] an hunt like the rest of us or go the hell home.

sorry for the bad words but its people like that that give hunters a bad name.

I hear birds gobble all the time to crows and woodpeckers. Not many owls living where I hunt here, but down south they hammer at them.

Now the rubes with the locator calls, very rarely get any response from birds, and usually shut them up. Most of the time because they have no clue how to use the call, or have no idea in general what they are doing.

No quicker way to locate a rube, then the sound of a pitiful crow or owl call.
