2 days in a row, not the slightest peep from the mountain turkeys. Tracks everywhere, scratching everywhere, strut marks, poop, you name it and it is in abundance.

I can't get a hen to talk, can't get a gobbler to gobble. Bizarre dang creatures these turkeys can be.

Anyone else having the silent days of April?

Heard two in Fentress County this morning and one was very vocal....until about 6:15am, then he took a ride home with me. That makes #3.

The last couple times I've been they have gobbled their heads off on roost, but the moment they hit the ground they go silent.

They gobbled hard on the roost in West TN this morning but like everywhere else as soon as they hit the ground silence. Saw one in the field on the way out with about 9 hens.

Been back from Florida since Saturday. I've hunted up on the mountain everyday since Sunday and have not heard the first turkey sound, other than hunters. Scratchings and tracks everywhere. Pressure from the googans seems to be dwindling each day. Better days are just around the corner.
