It depends on the year bucky jr. Some years the breeding will start late feb. or early march ,.. making early season the time to hunt hard. BUT,.. years like this its late. Early season is tuff because you still have so many hens to compete with. When you gets hens on nest ,. the toms are much more vocal and likely to make it in to your calling, and not taken away by a hen.

This is my opinion,.. but years like this is the best for hunting. I think the toms know when they have all the hens bred and they just stop period by late april. This year,.. late april should be good hunting. Watch your hens,.. when you start noticing single hens instead of hen groups ,.. you need to be hunting hard all day long!!

Hang in there and hunt hard buddy!! If it were easy,..they wouldn't call it hunting!!

If you do hear one gobble at you,.. try to split the difference with him if he sounds like he is more than 100 yards. Then start calling again.AND, The more you know about were the turkey are at(roost), and were they are wanting to go(feeding areas),. the more you improve your odds.
