I spooked 2 hens and a jake out of a tree this morning at 10:15. They were in a mature pine thicket. Was it the cool weather or wind this morning that caused them to roost late?

Weather more then likely, but a yote or something can put them in the trees at any point during the day. I have even had both hens and gobblers fly into trees at different times for various reasons.

Sometimes to rest, sometimes to get a better vantage point to find me, sometimes for no apparent reason.

Turkeys are crazy, you never know what they will do, and one thing is for sure there is no absolutes in hunting them.
