I have a '04 F350 with the 6.0 and have not had any problems.
Get the VIN # off the truck and have a ford dealer run it and see if it has had alot of repairs. Check the build date, late '04 had fewer problems.
Mine gets around 18 MPG.
I have 97K on it.

the reason why the tritons 4.6, 5.4, 6.8l motors were throwing plugs is that they had little threads on the spark plug itself. the revised plug has almost twice the threads as the old one.
at least the guy selling that truck was being honest, but dont be deturred about this, put revised plugs in youll never have problem. ive seen govt vehicles that have over 250k and goin strong. in most cases the plug will just back itself out without stripping, but when its stripped you can try the sleeve kit...do not know how long they last. my buddys f-150 had the short thread on one side and long thread on the other..original plugs.
as for the diesels the early 6.0s had the turbo hose that popped off and like dozens of recalls. and the later ones had all fixed expt minor progrmming recalls, keep away from aftermarket performance chips.
if u can change your front brakes u can change the front hub bearing 4x4 only, this happened to my left front hub, but it gave me plenty of warning, also replace only the one that is affected, no need to replace both.
as with any manufacturer there will always be a bad batch of vehicles.... u tend to hear about the bad ones more then the good ones.
