Get out in the rain lads! It's only cold and wet and your are likely to have your best opening day ever.

I will be out early, hooting my owl call like a crazy old man. I am ready for the mud and I am bringing a shovel and a freind to help me dig the truck out if so needed.

I plan on setting decoys early and either sitting quiet and enjoying a rainy morning or popping some long beards. Either way, I will be content to be out in the elements and away from the grind.

Plenty of sleep when your dead boys. It's turkey season again!

My biggest complaint is that I can't use my custom glass call with a wood striker when it's wet.

As previously said, in pouring rain, the hunting really isn't very good. Birds just won't strut because if they did, water would collect under their feathers and cool them down too much.

Now in a drizzle or about 30 minutes after a hard rain (it takes the gobblers about that long to preen themselves) hunting can be phenominal.

I'll be out there tomorrow AM regardless, but if it's lightning, I'll wait it out in the truck. Getting electrocuted just isn't worth it, and I have a healthy respect for lightning
