Thanks all. I have a 12-auto with factory mod. choke.

Would need to get new butt and forearm stocks (brother dropped and cracked).

Also would need the recoil pad and would like to do better than the factory mod. choke.

Think my BIL has a 20-auto, so will check on that too.

Also have a used crossbow, that needs some doing to get ready, but could if need be.

Would rather start this new hobby with a BANG though. ;\)

I put a Sims re-coil pad on my 535 and it helped a ton! Still kicks like a mule, but much less.

Either 870 20 gauge or if you can get a 12 gauge and the Knoxx SpecOps recoil reducing stock. It makes a BIG difference. One thing I can tell you for sure though - even with my Knoxx stock - when shooting 3" Winchester high velocity magnum turkey loads it will still kick the TOTAL CRAP out of you. The 20 gauge with 3" turkey load kicks MUCH less.
