Some fo you may remember last mont me asking for info about Dale Hollow. Well it looks like I will be going up there April 20-23. I know fishing from a pontoon boat is not the best way, but with my 78 year old uncle and 75 year old dad, I figured that would be the best and safest route. We will be staying at either Horse creek or Cedar Hill marina. Do we have a chance of cathcing some fish that time of year and from the pontoon. All kinds of advice would be appreciated: Bait (live and atrifical)? Locations? Secret spots? Any and all help is appreciated.Really we just want to get away together relax and have a good time. Fish would be a bonus. You never know how many trips like these you will get. Thanks

My dyslexcia is kicking in tonight. I noticed some reversed letters and numbers on my previous post. My uncle is 87 not 78. He was in the first wave at Normandy. Amazing man. Pop is pretty amazing also.

Grubs, throw lots of 4-5 inch grubs. Chartreuse ones with 6-8 lb line on points and in pockets. If the sun is high, find some shade.

What weight head do you use? Are you bouncing them off the bottom?

I normally throw 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4 ounce heads. I let them fall to the bottom and swim them back to the boat. You will hang up alot, so bring a bunch.

My advice would be stay away from Cedar Hill.

I will not ever spend another dime there unless there is new ownership.

Crappie are good in Irons Creek, Michell Cr, and Carter Cr. Go to the back of the creeks and fish the timber.

Horse Creek would be my 1st choice. I would set up abour 1/2 mile up the creek , LH side, about 15-20 ft. from the bank on 25-30 ft of water and fish under lights at night. You can take minnows but I always snag shad with trebles and drop them to the bottom, reel up about 2 cranks and hold on. Chances are you will catch bass, crappie, catfish, trout, stripe or walleye. Use a 1/2 oz. sinker to keep your line vertical and away from the other lines. Take some snacks and spend the night. The last hour before daylight always seems to be best.
