some field data collection: All shots @ 40Yards

choke: Truglo TG151X-Mossberg 835

test fired some 3 1/2" Heavyshot.

got a banana shaped pattern once. Is this just a fluke?

Shot again and got more evenly dispersed pattern.

Fired a Winchester Supreme 3" just for comparison.

might of just been a bad shell. the second shot looked perty dang good. i patternd some hevi shot 3" 2oz #6 and i was very pleased. i shot a 3-1/2" #5 winchester lead after i patternd the hevi and i was very suprised at how much harder the 3" hevi smacked the board compared to the 3.5" #5 lead.

it is almost like the choke had a coating of something inside it that made it noy very coencentric on that 1st shot
strange.......
but the other shots look fine
that is why it leads me to beleive that something made that 1st shot pattern like that and blew out with that shot
could have even been an uneven petal cut on the shot cup on one side
still pretty strange for it to throw an oblong pattern like that.

that 2nd pattern is pretty darn good actually

i would fire some more hevi 13 loads to gain some more confidence in them and adjust that pattern about 1-1.5 inches right at the most and about the same up alittle

could be renegade, it was the very first round thru the new truglo.

I have plenty of confidence in it and I'm ready enough I suppose to roll with it.

them 3 1/2 shells are a little stout, I'll bring out the sissy bag next time

stove pipe if it was a brand new choke and you didnt clean it before your first shot then that was your problem. i got a truglo choke and they come with somekind of grease or something inside of it and its gobbed in there pretty good.

I like the second shot as well, but are you using adjustable sights where you can pull the pattern that is left of center to the right a little?

Not a big deal, but might help.

Those shots wont kill a turkey at all. You are only gonna end up frustrated. You should probably just sleep in and have me come thin your turkeys out for you!

If you don't shoot the 3 1/2's turn in your man card now. \:D

Seriously, I shoot the 835 with the extra full choke that came in it and can kill a bird at 50 for sure because I have. I've heard great things about the Primos Jellyhead in these guns so keep that in the back of your mind if you decide to try another one. I keep saying I am but haven't.
