I heard TWRA started stocking them last year. We actually caught several as they would school up and run with our rattletraps and get themselves hooked on the trebles. Most of the ran about 4-5 inches long. Looked like Threadfin Shad. You would see huge schools of these shad, the size of the boat or bigger, busting the surface everywhere.

threadfins will rarely be over 3 inches long.
looks like a fun day .

Thanks. It was a ball and I felt it the next morning! I've seen many Threadfins between 5-7 inches long. Most threadfins that reach adult stages will be between 5-7 inches long at their biggest. I'll take a pic of one when we go back this weekend. There were many smaller, but the schools we were fishing over were as long as our rattletraps and jerkbaits.

Congrats on the catch . You seem to be dialed in on fishing the correct pattern for the season . I see so many bass fisherman pounding the banks , regardless of the water temp or season.
Here is some more info on shad:

Great site Scott. No doubt they were Threadfins. Good info there.

That's because alot may never make it to adult stages thanks to all the bigger, hungry fish!

It's no prob. I wasn't trying to imply that you were wrong by any means.

A good day indeed! Thanks for coming out Mossy and helping pass the needle nose pliers lol.

Thanks. I was too lazy to dig mine out. Besides, you weren't using them for the first couple hours anyway! Lol!

Hey, atleast I found the seagull! That means half your fish are mine lol. I will be getting some of those spinner heads you had and I already got some more jerkbaits......for the afternoon bite!
