Don't know what it means, but me and buddy pounded 30 keepers in 1.5 hours today on Loudon. Whenever the limit was 30 it would take us longer, but we would usually catch our 60 fish limits of 10" plus fish in half a day.

There seems to be no shortage of 10"+ fish IMO. Alot of the fish we had today were around 12" but very few over 12".

I would again, not like a 12" min. on crappie here, and wish they would up the limit back to 30 fish. It just doesn't take very long to catch 15.

The 12" limit in MS wasn't put in place as a trophy mgmt thing anyway, it was a reaction to the MAJOR increase in fishing pressure the lakes have experienced in the last 10 years or so, purely defensive. That's from the mouth of the biologist who sets the regs over there.

I remember "back in the day" before the limit, when people would roll into the ramp on Priest and Kentucky Lake with stringers of 100 or 150 crappie. Same dudes would do it several weekends in a row sometimes on a good spring. To each his own, but I never could understand why a person could want that many fish to eat.

Heck, forget eating - who wants to clean that many fish? \:\)

I've just known too many people who pack their freezer plum full of filets and then wind up throwing half of them away when they get freezer burned. Just greedy in my book.

Bill Dance used to say "keep what you can use, and release the rest"...

Hey Brian, you need to come to one of our redneck, southern, lost creek anytime of the year fish fries.

It will answer many of your questions.

Well considering I catch and release untold thousands of trout and smallmouth every year, as well as watch another untold thousand get caught and released by clients each year. I will hardly take any sort of lecture about keeping fish.

I will go back tomorrow, and probably 4 more times before turkey season opens, and chances are we will limit out every time. Is the fishery being adversely affected? Nope, there is plenty of seed left when we leave the lake.

All of these fish will be eaten, heck all of my limit are being digested as I type. And the others probably are having the same end as well.

I don't freeze fish, in fact the only game I freeze is deer. Frozen game just isn't as good as fresh IMO.

Save your lectures on fish harvests.

Another pounding was unleased today on Loudon by me and 3 buddies, we took our 60 keepers and fired up the Alabama buzz blade. Can you hear the grease poppin? No shortage of fish, and no problem with recruitment best I can tell.
