What is the biggest "creek smallmouth" that some of you have
caught, and what did you catch him (or her) on? I have heard of
and seen pics of 6+ pounders coming from swan and cane creek in
Hickman county. Swan creek starts in Lewis county and runs thru
Hickman, emptying into the Duck River. Swan is a beautiful
stream with clear cold water, but the poisinous snakes seem to
like it to.

Cane creek goes into perry county and has some trout that are
stocked by our TWRA. Went with a buddy a few years ago and we
drifted night crawlers with a split shot. We caught several good
trout with a few good smallies mixed in.

I have only fished the Duck river around the Columbia area and my biggest was around 3 lbs. I would love to fish some of the creeks you mentioned. I hunt over that way.

Smith Fork, 7-2, 1999. Also has three in the five pound range that day and had one break off that may have gone eight. All were caught on sliders.

Constipation has ruined many a good day. Not as many as stupidity, though.

I used to love Swan Creek. The last time I went many years ago, I was met by an angry landowner. I was trespassing, so I can't blame him.

BW - I love sliders, too - my favorite smallie bait (golden glitter or black with chartreuse tail depending on conditions).

t depends on how far up the creek your talking. I caught one on White oak creek in Humphreys county about ten miles from the mouth that weighed three lbs. But I caught one in the mouth of Big Richland creek in the same county that weighed five and a half. Still my biggest smallie to date.
The more small ones you let walk the more big ones you will see

I have caught them in Leipers creek up to 4 lbs, but that was years ago.

My absolute favorite way to fish.

Never caught a big one in a creek, although some of these "creek" smallies that are caught "in the mouth of" or way down low on the creek are really lake smallmouths, which of course grow mucho bigger. However, the 10 and 12" fish that I catch on ultra light tackle(and usually crick hoppers or small crawfish imitations, and the real things sometimes) are a ball.

Don't know, but I don't keep brown bass anyway. Particularly, when there are several lakes over in this direction where you can keep 10 largemouths under the slot, which is more than I need anyway.

My biggest was 21.5 inches out of the Little River in Walland. Dont know how much it weighed, but would guess around 4 lbs. Caught it on a 4" Watermelon Zoom Fat Albert.
So many smallmouth, so little time.
