Very Nice birds and pics gil.

If you plan on using a bow you really have to study the entire anatomy and bone structure of a turkey to determine your best shot opportunity at any given time. Vitals are located differently and are of course much much smaller than a deer. The shot options I strive for are straight up the legs just above and just a little forward of where they connect to the body (vitals/legs), base of the wing, bulleye/butt shot straight away (backbone/vitals), base of the beard facing directly toward(backbone/vitals), or head shot. Internal vitals are about the size of a lemon. You can take out their running gear or flying gear with good shot placment. Turkeys have alot of breast meat where some folks think the internal vitals are located, but they are actually farther back. If you look at the entire structure of a turkey you can find more shot options that will bring him down. Unlike deer, turkey bones are fairly easily penetrated with and broadheaded arrow.

I WILL take one with my bow opening weekend! It is my one and only goal for this turkey season. My set up will be My truth 2 turned down to 60 lbs. Red head 45/60 carbon maxx 2 arrows and trophy ridge hammerhead expandables. I will be hunting out of a blind this year. It is already set on the same spot where I have taken 2 good size toms each of the past two years.

Those are cool pics Gil. I really like the fact your arrows have orange fletchings. I knew you were a closet Vol fan. \:D

I had to run over a few little orange fans just to go huntin'. They were picking up trash on the side of the highway, so I just sideswiped a few.
Skin a vole...fletch an arrow. \:D

Seriously, you need to call me before you go to Bowriter's turkey coop. I've been on a few urban turkey hunts and have never once scored. It should have been a slam dunk, but those "pet" turkeys picked me off as a predator when I started acting like a hunter. Those citified tree rats ain't as stupid as we think. ;\)

That's what the blind's for. \:D

Seriously, I know what you're talking about. I have them around my house too but not as frequent as he does. I can jog on the road or be on the four wheeler and drive within kicking distance of them but the second I put camo on they scatter in a heartbeat. Guess I'll have to hunt 'em in shorts and a wife beater tank top. \:D

This year i will be forced in one of my spots to take the stick and string. Its a ten acre lot thats surrounded by houses. Turkeys are on the property all the time, I have permission to get after them with a bow. Thats the only place I'll be taking the bow though.
