I shoot 3 1/2" Winchester Supreme #5's out of my Mossberg 835. At 50 yards they put 15 - 20 pellets in the head and neck which is plenty for me. I never tried 6's because I liked what the 5's did at that range. Killed one 2 years ago at 49.5 yards (my brother was in the blind with me and ranged him).

I use the Remington Nitro 3 1/2" #5's in my 835 with a Primo's Tightwad (.670) At 50 yards I am getting 30-40 pellets in the head and neck area. I havent tried anything else because I wa happy with this. Shot a tom last year at 55 yards, Shot was a little low it blew his beard off and killed him deader than dead. I personally would rather have larger pellets hitting the target with more energy hitting the turkey over more smaller pellets with less energy.
