Watts Bar--Some decent crappie but not finding the numbers for this time of the year. We fish shallow during the winter months. It is amazing how shallow they will stay. Bass fishing has been slow. Where you located in east TN.

Rockwood. Spend most on my time fishing the middle to lower part of watts bar. I spend some time in the rivers, mostly crappie fishing, but a couple of spots have vanished with the ash spill.

I don't make it up to Watts Bar very much. But pre-spawn crappie action if improving everyday on Chickamauga. And the catfish bite has actually been staying very consistent with lots of quality fish, and a few trophies.

I haven't bass fished... but most recent reports I've seen have shown tough times, with a few notable exceptions from the folks who have them "dialed in."

For what it's worth, this year I'm posting pretty detailed reports on all my trips on my website (below)... or go directly here: http://www.sceniccityfishing.com/reports_09.html

Of course I usually post my reports here as well. And spend most of my life trying to figure out legitimate ways to get them all TTT.

from TWRA site
The surface water temperature is near 50 degrees. The lake is at normal winter pool. Crappie have been elusive in the Piney area. Crappie are being caught in the larger secondary bays in the water above Hwy. 58. Minnows and jigs are being used with equal results. Bass are being caught along the river banks and on the primary points. Slower presentation of any lure is better. One exception to this rule is in areas where shad are being blown across points and in this scenario, a lure ripped fairly fast will trigger a few strikes. Sauger are being caught while bumping jigs along the bottom in the portion of the lake above the I-75 Bridge. Jigs tipped with minnows will sometimes allow anglers a few additional fish. Catfish are being caught in the main channel while using all the normal stuff for bait. Rockfish are being caught more often in the upper portion of the reservoir along the river drops on an assortment of lures. Shad is almost always the most productive bait for rockfish. Bluegill are being caught near bridges and docks.
....but thats usually a day late and a dollar short.
