I was wondering what is your favorite and most productive way to catch bass in high 40's to low 50's degree water. The lake I fish mostly is for the most part deep and clear. The fishing is usually tough until the water temp reaches mid 50's. I'd like to hear from some you on cold water bass fishing.

I have alot of luck with a jig this time of year in crawfish color.I also have alot of luck with a crankbait in red color.I have caught my biggest bass in feb.and march. On the jig i fish it in about 2 ft to up to 5ft of water and target structure of any kind but once i get a pattern of what they like i adjust to that.On the crankbait same dept and deeper just run it threw the structure hang on lol.I also like a fluke this time of year unweighted to.

Jigs, jigs, and jigs in less than 50 degree water.

Once the water gets into the 50's I start throwing everything in the tackle box and jigs. I mainly fish stained, shallow water reservoir stuff.

tourney this weekend on Guntersville, and I've already got my rods tied up with 3 shades of red rattle baits and 1 jerk bait. Rattle baits entice reaction bites which will usually just about rip the rod out of your hands, and the jerk bait bite comes from rippin the bait a few feet and then letting it sit still anywhere from 10-30 seconds, this time of year can produce some serious lady hogs that have moved up into the staging period and are getting ready to spawn.
