when do you all decide to start
i figure i can get away with right around the end of the 1st week of march to start driving my wife nuts
calling out in the back yard and at nights down in the gagarge
heck some times i take a call and practice while driving to work

practice with my purple haze slate , also got a glass hammer call late last year that i will start parcticing with.
but mostly i want to be sure i am calling good with diapraghm calls and when i go out in the backyard my dogs love it
dont know what the neighbors think of it at times $\:D$ $\:D$ $\:D$

sometimes i play a turkey school dvd to catch some nuances of calls that i need to brush up on and got a knight and hale cassette tape for the player in the truck for the same reason

most of the time when i do watch turkey hunting shows i am really listening to call sequence,s and rythms

never stopp learning i geuss

I start as soon as they have 'em on the the Wal-Mart shelves. Which is usually around the middle of January. I just practice on my wife, call as much and as often as I can until I get "the look" then I put it away ( at least until I can get to my truck). I agree also about the calling tapes and cd's. Those are good because they have real hens calling on them and you can sort of mimic them when you practice. I too am a student of the art and I hope I never stop learning.

if you know how to use one then you can get your call out the night before season and try it out.if you are trying to learn then you better start early.

i practice off and on all year, get kinda boring during the summer. keep one with me during deer season to call coyotes. started getting my other calls ready a couple weeks ago.

nwtf site has some good sound bites of call sounds, and its free.

Man, I must be one sick individual. I've been watching turk dvd's and running mouth calls and my other calls since September. My wife is about to call Dr. Phil.
My wife just corrected me and say's that it's been since July/ August. I can't get enough of it... just love this turkey hunting.

I make slate calls and am testing them out as I make them, and I do my mouth calls pretty much all year also!!!:D:D:D

I just bought a new box call and have been practicing with it of course bc its new. My fiance is about to kill me over it. I haven't really started with the mouth calls yet but will here in a couple weeks probably
