In general... What would it cost me to get involved into turkey hunting.. I need a good shotgun,calls thats basically it.
I've always shot mine with a bow, during deer season.

a few calls
strut seat (worth its weight in gold)
a decoy or two just in case

I think thats about it. No idea how much it will all cost.

500 bucks would do it. 350-400 for a mossberg 500tk(might find a used one for cheaper), misc calls, gear.
amount for calling in your first spring bird and hammering him=PRICELESS.

That's a good price to start out with. I've got some skeet guns but I couldn't stand using those. Anybody have a mossberg 500 or rem. 870 worth the money ?

I don't neccessarily like shopping at walmart but they have a good deal on the mossberg 835. Comes in full camo, already has turkey choke and shoots 2 3/4,3, and 3 1/2 inch shells. I bought mine from there for $309 and so far i have been satisfied.

You could get started for probably around $300 - $400 just getting the bare necessities which is a gun, shells, and a call or two. This is assuming you already have the camo and snake boots for archery season. I second the 835. Mine has broken a few turkey necks in the past couple of years that I've owned it. It's when you start adding all the other stuff like that posted above that it starts to add up. $10 here and $20 there turns into another $500 in a flash but when you're standing over a big longbeard that you called in it's worth every penny and then some.

Yeah I've already got camo and boots.. everything except the calls and a turkey gun.
I've got a FNH tactical shotgun. But Im not sure if I can get a good turkey choke for it.

I'm going to go check on a 835 today. that's not a bad price at all for a ready to hunt shotgun.

If you are trying to save money go get you one of Those New england firaerms single shots. They kick like the dickens but everyone ive ever patterned did wel and they are cheap price. Just get you a cheap push pull call and have at it. My wife call them in with a knight and hale tom coffin. Very simple to use.

A shotgun and a diaphragm is all you really need. My Dad takes that real simple approach, takes a diaphragm and a old 870 Wingmaster, modified choke, 2 3/4 inch shells and kills how many ever he wants to ever year. You certainly can make things much easier on yourself though lol
