And I came back a better man. Yes, we caught fish and we caught some big fish. But I learned one he11 of a lot about living from man who is dying. Pictures later but we had 5 over seven pounds and the average 3.5 pound.
Then we just talked.
No, Gil. I still did not find your camera. But I do know what happened to it. PM to follow.

And at the end of the morning, we only fished two hours, he agreed we had to do this again in April. He promised, no matter what the doctors said, he'd be there.
I hope I will.
And I assure, you every single one of you needs to meet a Lloyd Jett.

I hope you and Lloyd get to go again in April . He sounds like a great person . My prayers go out to him . I watched some of my dad's good fishing buddies come and go , some of them had a huge impact on me as an outdoorsman and person .

Dang I'd like to fish there. Need to start saving my money. I know you have mentioned before but what do they charge? Seems like it was about $500 a day?

I just did some quick cipherin on the tackle. The lure is close to 100 years old. The rod is about 50 years old. The reel (Just guessing, here) was maybe 70 years old. The line was new-no more than 20 years old. The fisherman and guide could total about 135 years.
The bass was maybe 18 months.

BTW- That lure was the forerunner of the Devil Horse and a lot of old, double prop baits. That one is handmade, handpainted and would maybe bring $250 at auction.
The rod is one of the first ones when they went from metal to glass. I wish I could have gotten the reel in the picture. I have never heard of it. There is no level wind, you did it with your thumb. When he cast it, it sounded like a John Deere tractor starting up.

BW, glad you got to share time and equipment....The outfit, I have a Bronson "lashless" on a steel True Temper rod. I was given the reel in Washington years ago and out of ignorance and curiosity, tried it on a nine foot rod for winter run Steelhead. ONCE. I found out quickly why they are labeled "knucklebusters".

BTW- In regards to an email as to why Lloyed didn't smile. He can't. Most of his facial muscles have been cut. But he was [censored] sure smiling inside.
He can't swallow, he manufactures no saliva. He is fed through a feeding tube.
But he can dam sure cast into a tea cup at 30 yards.
